I never spoke directly with these people. I don't know them, I don't even know their names. But we have shared friends. Trying to go behind the surface of usual portraits, I got permission to visit their appartments early in the dark morning and photograph them while they were sleeping. I did not turn on the lights, in case it would make them wake up. Because of the flash, I only had one or two shots per person. I then sneaked out again while they continued sleeping.
